The Medical Center of Stony Brook University in NY needed to improve access to its growing user database and add several features to the existing BioMail content management system.
Technologies and tools applied:
- Java EE, EJB, Servlets/JSP
- Application servers: JBoss, Tomcat
- DB: MySQL
3 JavaEE developers (lead, senior and middle), 1 QA, 1 business analyst, 1 project manager
R-Style Lab designed and developed a high-performance web application. Its key concept is to search for particular information (publications in the field of biology and medicine) on the Internet, retrieve it and send it to specified recipients.
The BioMail system is implemented as a web crawler that works with PubMed® (the leading global database of medical and biological publications) and other databases of the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
The system enables users to create and save their own search queries and receive emails on a regular basis with links to the latest articles matching the selected parameters.
